About us

                                 Support | Search | Reconnect

Voie d’Espoir is a Haitian organization dedicated to the search for origins and family reunification. It supports adoptees of Haitian origin and biological families throughout their search process, placing listening, respect, and consent at the heart of its work.

Our Story

A story that began with journalism and grew into a commitment

The story of Voie d’Espoir began in December 2015 with a series of reports focusing on Haitian families searching for children they had placed for adoption. These journalistic investigations gave a voice to biological parents who had experienced family separation, in some cases for several decades.

Faced with the scale of the needs expressed by these families, as well as requests from adoptees living abroad, an initiative dedicated to support and family tracing gradually emerged.

In September 2020, this initiative became Voie d’Espoir, with the ambition of structuring the search for origins and contributing to the restoration of family connections.

When journalism leads to commitment

Before Voie d’Espoir was created, journalistic investigations into international adoption in Haiti had already brought attention to the experiences of biological families facing separation and searching for their children.

Through his reporting on adoption in Haiti, Michel Joseph highlighted a human reality that helped shape his commitment to the search for origins. These reports provided a deeper understanding of the concerns and experiences that ultimately contributed to the creation of Voie d’Espoir.
